As a child who loved to read
I grew up with stories all around me.
Stories of courage, of adventure,
of little girls who weren't afraid to dream. 

Those stories shaped me into who I am,
and I am living those stories today.
I am the princess who saves herself,
I am the girl brave enough to slay a dragon. 

Stories have taught me to hope,
to believe in myself,
and that it's alright to be scared. 

I want to be a storyteller too, 
and tell stories that will let other little girls see
the wonders of this world,
stories that will bring them to dream.

If I could have one job,
one perfect occupation,
I would be an independent filmmaker. 
Unafraid to have my voice be heard,
Inspiring, creating, and documenting the beauty in the ordinary. 

I want to be a voice for those who can't be heard,
I want to go to far away places 
and help others tell their stories through film.

To achieve my dream I am studying to be
a better writer
a more creative thinker
an aware, global citizen,
and most of all, above everything else,
the independent woman
that the little girl always dreamed to be.
