Stolen Gift

Location

So we went to Persephone

and gathered her tears
in a tiny glass bottle
that held all of our fears

She begged and she screamed
for our aid in escape,
her home was above;
not here in a cage.

But with leaden hearts,
We carried on
The man of the Styx was already gone
We wailed and cheered as night passed us by
And we looked for life and wondered why?

Persephone' s tears got rid of our griefs,
It freed us from ailments and silly beliefs,
But if for nothing more than my selfish ways,
I wish they left love, the silliest belief  in the heart of man,
So perhaps I could love you once again.
