Still Ocean Waters

Location

Zimbabwe

The vast ocean, transcending over lands,

Peacefully. Its waters calm as silence on a wave less,

Windless day.

It is as tranquil as sitting waters in a test-tube.

But put your feet in it- waddle in or shuffle, try swimming-

Across its gargantuan surface-

Somewhere you will tire, grip its formless shape, scream

Or sing solemn hymns: -

Talk to your ancestors if so you believe

Pray to your gods if so you wish

But into its haunches you remain.

Into its grotto you will be swept, unwillingly.

Try to build a bridge over its conquering serenity-

Will you succeed when that moment comes by?

Or will you succeed in building a bridge over its transcontinental hugeness.
