i want to be recognized as
something still growing
instead of something
waiting to die.

because i’ve been telling myself
“i can do this” long enough
that i can finally believe it.
now i want others to believe it
too.

and my life may not look
how people want it to,
but that doesn’t mean it’s not right.

i am still a person,
and all people grow.
