Pinocchio. 

What if the fact that his nose grows everytime he lies was false?

He is actually a pathological liar whose nose grows everytime he tells the truth.

But Disney wanted to keep that part a secret.

Why?

Maybe they didn't want children to enjoy a story about a pathological liar.

But what if it was the fact that Pinocchio was not a puppet? 

Pinocchio is actually an accurate story about Walt Disney as a child.

Maybe he changed his look on life and stopped lying so much when he almost was killed by a whale.

Maybe all of his character's personalities were sort of like lies he had told as a child.
