The Starry Night - Ballad

I was alone that night, wondering about you

I gazed out the window, thinking things through

Almost everyone was asleep, for it was midnight

The moon had risen and the stars shone bright

They were like tiny diamonds illuminating the night

The stars and moon were truly a stunning sight

Almost everyone was asleep, for it was midnight

Yet not I, for the stars and moon gave me delight

Some stars were packed in a tight cluster

Do they really form constellations? I wonder

The crescent-shaped moon hang in the sky

Seeing that beauty before me, I began to cry.

It reminded me of you, that starry night

You took me on the roof, and held me tight

We gazed at the stars and moon in the sky

I’ll never forget when you looked into my eye.

Then you whispered to me, into my ears

Told me about your secret, your darkest fears

How you have always loved me, all those years

While I, I started crying some joyful tears

Almost everyone was asleep, for it was midnight

The moon had risen and the stars shone bright

Yet I’m still awake, thinking of the big “what if” in life

Thinking of you, it’s like piercing my heart with a knife.
