Stargazing

The best sights

Are often seen late in the night.

It’s not the twinkling lights

Of the city, or the happy sighs

Of mothers and lovers.

No.

Shift your gaze

Up. See how the days

Turned into night.

Don’t cringe in fright

Of the unknown. Why not

Stare? Gaze at the shining rocks.

I used to be afraid

Of what I didn’t know, never paid

Attention to what I was missin’,

Now, I watch the stars glisten.

And I swear,

The longer I stare,

The closer I am.

The magnetic energy of their gravitational forcefields command

Me to venture into the unkown.

So, here I go. Up and up I float.

Mesmerized by beauty, High on my

Fix, there’s no time to notice I might’ve lost my mind.

The moon’s lantern lights my path

For a while, but it does not last.

It’s cold, but I don’t notice the air

lacks oxygen, and I don’t really care.

I look up into the sky, the unknown.

No, I’ll never know.

So watch me go.

Here I go.
