A Star Wars Poem

So, for some of us who are raised in a family where Star Wars is the peek of entertainment, we may have gotten a little toe excited about episode seven.  As for me and my house, we got a little bit carried away with the anticipation and suspense.  I wrote this poem as a reminder to us all.  We need to focus on what is really important and not on what is the most "fun".  So, I have resolved to redirect my focus and obsessions, and I encourage you to as well, after all, do or do not, there is no try.  Anyway, if you enjoy a good Star Wars marathon, you might enjoy this little poem.

...

What now is the default for our conversations

Is a world of great weapons and annihilations

Heroes and villains, guys good and bad

Forgetting the depth of the talks we once had

Now don't get me wrong, I would call me a fan

Of the galaxy far, far away from this land

Of Rey and of Finn and of Starkiller Base

These things are all fun, but a bit out of place

I feel like at times it's a little obsessive

To always be talking of bad guys oppressive

X-Wings and tie fighters clashing in air

Going through life as if we don't care

What happened to days when we'd talk about weather,

Play board games and card games and do things together?

We put up these walls that we call speculation

And close up our hearts to reconciliation

You can't start a fire if you don't gather sticks

It's not gonna work using Jedi mind tricks

We live in a shallow and desolate bog

We're consumed by the shadow of deepening fog

So, like Kylo Ren and Darth Vader too

I'm removing the masks that keep me from you

I'm standing up tall with this new resolution

To take a step back from the fuss and confusion

And make sure the truth of the story's not lost

In the dunes of Jakku or the blizzards on Hoth

I want to be sure that through all celebration

I'm staying on track with my own destination

Who'll care about Star Wars when we get to the Kingdom?

It's not gonna matter if you have not or have seen them!

When we're face to face with the King on His throne,

We can really and truly say: "Chewy, we're home!" ~
