Standing Strong, Alone

I'm standing strong alone
even though the streets are cold
I can find some warmth
in the back of my mind when I think of you

the thought of you is like a safety blanket when I'm in a barren wasteland
fighting through every disaster that comes my way just to see you again

if I didn't have you I'd have nothing else
not one friend beside me or even a book on my old dusty shelf
without you I'm a lonely vessel
wading through the sea until I find land
a dry spot to rest my head, a hand to keep me from drowning
