The Staircase Less Traveled

Before, behind, my wily tail

Doth tread quickly Summer’s delight.

My spectre dreams of Sun’s unveil,

Thy mirth dissuades Pluto’s foul might.

With face locked straight, I step upward.

Thy ardent breath doth thaw my neck.

I cry to glimpse Heaven’s best chord

Yet iron words wage war to check

three Fate’s decree. Anon, Hades!

Pray steal away my bride thought be

Ere brew a bitter hole for jest

Reverse thy nature quick, no less

Instinct ousts sense,  her life recedes

I scream for Death’s derisive peace.
