Stage Fright

Shaking,

As I begin to transfer words,

From my mind to the page, hands trembling

Shaking,

As I take the words from the page to my mouth

My reflection quivering trying to get the pace right

Shaking.

As I step onto a stage behind a microphone

My unstable voice magnified, towards the strangers

Shaking,

With the beginnings of a giggle

As I realize, strangers are not as scary, in their underwear.
