On the Square of Eccentric Dogs / Abu Karim

A man has thrown a stone at a dog

and the dog is running away being driven by sorrow;

the boozed dog has been wounded much.

The neon sign keeps diving in the water of a pond

out of zest and jokes;

the rickshaw puller does not know

where we are going;

he has been congratulated by light, neon signs,

the water of the pond and

the stones hidden under the water.

An eccentric dog, about to run away,

has asked, ‘‘ Where do you go ?’’

Nobody

Knew

where

we were going;

to which city,

crossing the watch

of its main gate

to fetch the head of Medusa.

Passing

Seven layers of the sky

To touch God in a

throne,

and under that water

which is life.

A blue watchman was standing at the golden gate;

he stands for human love and pique;

nobody will see him on the way to Shukrabad.

Humayun or Monir, none of you

know the address of Lily;

all over Dhaka City is her residence.

Their residence is covered under water

and has a boundary of

apartments;

their residence has watchers

like butterflies and seven bumble-bees.

Monowar, you are looking for stone.

Beyond the path of one hundred centuries

crossing the road of ten mullion years

and crossing the throne of God

one can reach  Shukrabad.

Do you know all the kinds of love?

Do you know what they are?

Boost up love and

pangs.

Driven by a sad plight,

a dog over the road

is lamenting being attacked with stones.

You do not know the address of lily;

the whole Dhaka City is her residence.

You are all immersed in deep love;

you are in a merry mood

immersed in dreams.
