In Spite Of

The conversations of

what women are and what they deserve

have made me

become someone

in spite of you.

I love you

and I cherish you,

but when you tell me

that because of my biology

that I am

less

I have become someone

in spite of you.

Thank you for those

enlightening conversations,

because without them,

I would have never turned and

learned that I am a powerful being

that deserves and will demand

respect.

Your vindictive words

have turned me into someone

in spite of you.

Thank you.
