Spectator Sport
A kid who spits and stutters when he talks
Is scared to say a word
A girl who has to limp when she walks
Can never join the herds
And do we tell them they’re different
Or do we accept them for who they are?
You see the world from your front porch
Because changing your ways is just too hard
A spectator sport, a victim in need
A fly on the wall, that stays so weak
A stepped-over line
“Its not a problem of mine”
Fourteen dead in California
Just like in Paris it raises global questions
And they’re still looking for the answers
But what are they doing to find them?
We update statuses, and then forget it
They hold conferences, we give condolences
But we don’t offer solutions
‘Cause our caring goes as deep as an illusion
A spectator sport, a victim in need
A fly on the wall, that stays so weak
A stepped-over line
“Its not a problem of mine”
You continue the cycle, ride the bandwagon
Blend into the crowd
You’re not a human, you’re a mannequin
That stands on passive ground
“You must be the change that you wish to see in the world.” - {Mahatma Gandhi}
A spectator sport, a victim in need
A fly on the wall, that stays so weak
A stepped-over line
“Its not a problem of mine”
You continue the cycle, ride the bandwagon
Blend into the crowd
You’re not a human, you’re a mannequin
That stands on passive ground
A spectator sport.
