A Special Day Without You

I wish you were here,
I just want you near.
Another holiday,
and you are in a land far away.
You are always in my heart,
even though we are worlds apart.
I hope you know how much I love you,
I always ask God to make sure that you do.
Happy 4th of July,
soon I will say hello not goodbye.
Many times it seems like we will never be together,
but in my heart I know it will not be forever.
Even though I still in bed and cry,
I no longer scream "why oh why!".
I still feel that hole deep inside of me,
and sometimes it still brings me to my knees.
But tonight I will not cry or scream in pain,
I will thank you that through your life, faith in Christ I may gain.
Sometimes I will be angry, sorrowful, or sad,
but tonight I will be amazed that I met you, stunned, and glad.
Now I am going to watch fireworks in the night sky blue,
and I will imagine that one time I got to watch them with you.
I can't wait to hold you again,
but for now I must remember that this is not the end.
I am grateful for the time had, not angry at the lost,
I will no longer settle on my heart a dark cold frost.
Instead I will still at joy ask who you were and who you are,
and I will say thank you to God that your tubes can no longer leave scars.
Watch over us and bless this whole place,
And maybe, just maybe I will see your face.
