Got Some Spare Change?!?

Tattered and worn shirt to match her
Broken down skirt
The holes in her shoes let you know that she knew
The hard face of life
Its truth
its reality
and at this moment all she could do is whisper to me was

Got Some Spare Change?!?

I stand there in my slacks
my new, dry cleaned shirt that was navy black
my shoes polished
clean
fresh from the box
Wall Streets a Tough one
But I made it by a lot

Other guys in similar suits walk past me just the same
clean shirt
new shoes
and everything is sane
for them
yet here stands this woman
alone
desperate
and out on a whim

I could pass her buy like my co workers do
the brokers
the stalks
all held together like glue

But i shall be different

I hear here again

Got Some Spare Change?!?

I reach for the change in my pocket
feel the quaters rubbing against my thumb
and then i see him
my boss

Want to go out for lunch?
he says

SURE!

Tattered and worn shirt to match her
Broken down skirt
The holes in her shoes let you know that she knew
The hard face of life
Its truth
its reality

Gone
