Sonnet

Sonnet for a Love that Once Was

I gazed into your eyes and saw my world.

My love, my friend, someone to make me feel,

When constantly with her my own mind swirled.

In three short years, my dear heart you did steal.

Our love was like the sun, it kept us warm.

It seemed the warmth would last eternally,

Until that love became a thunderstorm

And then I fell apart internally.

My heart still aches for you, my other half,

The storm yet cease, I pray the rain away.

To me, we were a perfect photograph

Of hopes of how my life could be one day.

Though hard to believe, this life will go on,

It’s now the time to look upon the dawn.
