A Song For My Brother

Location

I love you dearly my brother

Equal in the eyes of God, and of our mother.

And yet I scorn and hate

the little things that make you weak,

and in a hundred ways

a better man than I

Our uncle tried to teach me

when you and I were young,

“Everybody”, he said, “knows something that you don't”

But I'm arrogant and ignorant and trapped

in the pit I dug myself

by placing faith in me

and trust in no one else

If only this song could set me straight,

a prayer to tear the blinders free,

I'd learn anew to feel and see.

But how must you feel, if even I grow weary

of my own apologies?

You see as clear as I,

the path that I've been on

is still the one I always choose
