Somewhere

Somewhere in the heat
of a jungle,
the tundra's cold,
on a hillside,
- the desert,
in a sprawling city,
or ruined village,
in a camp,
settlement,
or colony,
in a lone hut,
or sprawled on the street,
crouched in the dust,
- a man or a woman,
a boy or a girl,
hungry, hurting
sick, dying,
look up to the night sky
in wonder
though puzzled
at the moon's magnificence,
the stars' splendor-
awed,
by the glory of God
His greatness
midst
hunger and pain,
sickness and death-
( the horror and despair)
mixed with
wonder and enchantment
all of it too much-
an enigma,
unsolvable?
