Softly the rain falls

Softly the rain falls

From darkened skies

A sad pitter patter

As the young lady cries

Her lover had left her

Death took him in hand

And spirited him away

To that unreachable land

No more will she  see

eyes softly glowing

Or touch his silky hair

so soft and flowing

she longs for him

as she looks at his grave

so barren and lonely

for one  once so brave
