So Called Home

Welcome to the United States of America. Home of the free because of the brave. Where brainwash is at its finest. A country where Christopher Columbus is praised for discovering America and, a home where my indigenous sisters were not only raped, but my indigenous brothers were tortured while my roots that ascended here first were being digged deep into the ground to re-create history. But this so called home keeps distressing my people.

Welcome to the home of the free because of the brave. Where Equal Pay Acts are passed by the government but yet men get paid more than women all because of this damn patriarchy. We keep fighting and arguing within our indigenous family instead of fighting this system that continues to make us believe that money is the only entrance or exit to any given situation. But brothers and sisters, we are so much more powerful than all this money. So now I ask that we all as one continue to fight for social justice and to not back down because our voices will be heard!

Welcome to the home of the free because of the brave. A story of where colonization from Christopher Columbus was experienced by our ancestors and where we were given the name ‘Indians/ Los Indios.’ Where females from 9 and older were seen as sex symbols only and where males (including live babies) were given to dogs as food supply.

Welcome to the home of the free because of the brave. Where according to some, was once great. America was never great to begin with because this land was never called America in the first place. No solo soy chillona y xicana, soy bien chingona! I am a proud brown warrior.
