Smile

I wish the world would smile more.

The thought of a smile

Is so normal yet so distant.

You, alongside the thousands on the streets

Are not able to find joy in the smallest moments.

You did not pass someone who smiled at you,

And you did not smile at the one who passed by you.

I wish the world would smile more.

The barista at your favorite coffee shop -

Are they joyous or are they trained?

When you smile at them,

Is there gratitude or is there grief masked with a pretty face?

If I could change one thing about the world,

I wish the world would smile more.
