A Small Alaskan Town

A small Alaskan town

Enveloped in a calm, magical mist

Where everyone grew up on a steady diet of

Chocolate brown X-tra Tuffs, playing outside until dark descended, and rain that never stopped

In our small Alaskan town

we lived in our own secret haven

Ignoring everything past the point where the sky hugged the shining sea

In our small Alaskan town

Where whole forests were our playgrounds

All of the sea was our swimming pool

And the mist was our mask

In our small Alaskan town

Where everyone knew each other

The rain would fall day in and out

Smelling of giddy anticipation

We would huddle under blankets

Consoled and protected from raging storms

Nothing could touch us when we were in

Our small Alaskan town

Then the flashy moving van came and with regret took us farther and farther away

From our small Alaskan town
