Sleepy Dreams

I’m tired.

I want to sleep.

Drift off in the endless abyss.

Going to sleep is hard.

But waking up is even harder.

Let me close my eyes.

My eyelids drift shut.

My heart beat slow.

My breathing even.

And I will dream.

Dream of past times.

Dream of future times.

Dream of a better world.

Not perfect, just better.

Dreams.

The place I can truly set myself free.

Let me grow wings and fly.

Let me grow gills and swim.

Detached from reality.

But still here.

Floating is the word.

Floating in the air.

Floating on the water.

I am here.

But not.

I’m content to just dream.

But I’ll wake up.

And do things.

Go through the motions.

Smile and cry.

Let my emotions be known.

Fight for what I believe in.

Then dream.
