Sleeping

I didn't sleep at all last night,
Just hoped that I would be rested by sunlight.
Tangled sheets and bright sky unfazed
I'm amazed that I'm awake at all.
And the restless guided by forgotten dreams,
Stalling sleepers stand united, it seems
That the act of waking up fresh is a stale wish.
Confronted by nightmares,
Frightened by day scares.
