Skating The Surface

Advancing blades marching onward,

Supporting our icebound vessels,

Circling some cracks unopened.

Waiting for our fears to splinter,

Welcoming the crash toward the 'berg,

End of autumn close to winter.

Anticipating downward falls,

Spine upright and facing the back.

Bending knees when gravity calls,

Walking running skating abroad.

Dancers slipping on the surface,

Balancing equilibrium.

This is how it feels we surmise,

Shake off the embarrassment flakes.

Coldness exercise makes you warm,

Storming the barrier fortress.

Stopping to press lips together,

Pausing to feel the curled tress.

Push off, holding hands as you glide,

Arms outward wingspan can floor fly.

Spinning euphoria rising,

Mirth across the night we can die.

The tree tress is illuminating,

Crowned by a star as bright as a star.

Tower penetrates persimmon clouds,

Ever tall despite your height grown far.
