A Single Tear

The broken boy once fell in love
On his wedding day he let out a single tear
His new wife asked what was wrong
"For so long I've been broken, and now you've started to mend me!"

Years passed and one day she felt a kick
She panicked and ran to tell the broken boy
At the birth he once again let out a tear and said
"To be a father when I never had one is beautiful!"

Then one day his daughter came home with a diploma in hand
And once more a single tear fell
Why do you cry? His sweet daughter asked
"You aren't broken!" Was all he said

Soon he grew old, always by his wife's side
Until one day he sat next to her hospital bed
He let out one more tear
"I don't want you to go," he said as she slipped away

More years passed until he too was in a bed
His youngest granddaughter sat on his lap
"Grandpa why are you crying?"
"Because I know that she is too!"

He fell into the darkness after that
But he followed a shining star
And when he stepped into light he saw her with stars falling down her cheek
"I always knew your tears would guide me home," he said as he hugged her tight
