Silent Violence

Her girlfriend is beautiful and funny,

adorable, and an animal lover.

Even though she hates it when Saralee

accuses her of being complacent with animal cruelty.

Her lover shows her all sorts of new music

even though Saralee never does the same.

She loves helping clean Saralee's house

  when she's away at work.

She ignores an unfamiliar pair of panties under the bed.

She never questions when Saralee is an hour late,

  because it's midnight,

and she knows her baby is tired.

Dinner is always ready.

Her girlfriend never does her own laundry.

Litterboxes changed, kitties fed,

"Don't worry about anything, honey."

  We've got us."
