Silenced
At what point must we lose our voices,
Reaching out to scream again?
We’re silenced.
We present ideas, so backwards, they thought, that maybe they might work. But then,
We’re silenced.
We wish to have a future; begging them to take us seriously. They won’t.
We’re silenced.
Something for us, a life for our kids – is it even worth it?
This is something we want, and
We’re silenced.
What memories will we have of this era?
A day won’t go by without another tragedy. We scream
And we’re silenced.
No one listens, all we get is watching them sip their sweet tea absently.
“You’re just kids!” And like that,
We’re silenced.
But let’s change this. We’ll scream louder, fight harder
And do what we have to do to make sure that this time
We won’t be silenced
