The Silence Heard
If waves could talk, they’d tell stories of the souls lost in the current.
If hearts could speak, they’d count the beats that were skipped.
But if my eyes could no longer see, and my ears no longer heard,
Would they utter a word, and what would they say?
Would they tell of the countless times they lit up from your smile,
Or describe the soothing of your voice when it was near?
And would my mind join in, and speak of when you silenced all of the fear?
And yet, I think they would be drowned out by the words of my nerves,
As they felt the calming of your company.
All of the sounds, when you’re around, all play in my head
All at once.
