Silence for The Children

Dedicated to the school, victims and the families affected by the Sandy Hook Shooting

The blood washes out of our bodies, our faces.

The hairs on my arms stand on end.

The cries, the pleas from these distant places--

Are more than just pretend.

The tension builds up in our hearts, our souls,

Thinking of their sons and daughters.

His thoughts, his reasons for having such goals,

Have sent those children to slaughter.

The sadness that stays in our hearts, our lives,

Makes us all that much stronger.

The tears, the will to let our memories survive--

The children will suffer no longer.
