Sidetracked

We’re all sidetracked

Focus shifting, emotions pulled, social media tugging
Wanting to see likes and loves and reels, all willing to disregard our responsibility

The parking lot buzzes with chaos as students rush to lunch

Mindless frenzy comes with the thrill of being alone and unsupervised

Multi-tasking is common and seemingly productive

No phones set aside or safely stowed in the console

Crash. Impact jolting. Smoke smell brings paralyzing fear.

Wobbly knees encompassed by confusion

Red and blue lights swirling, sirens wailing

A motorist’s disregard had consequences – luckily no fatalities

Change is needed

Full effort, every day, every time

Off and away while driving is all it takes

Care enough to resist the impulse to be sidetracked
