The Short Life of a Dying Heart

red flows through-- giving life
as it thunders-- strong
under new skin-- so alive
fighting a battle-- just begun
that no one can see-- it's heard
place a hand there-- feel the pulse
listen closely-- do you hear it?
quick but strong-- getting weaker
a race has begun-- unexpected
a flaw is discovered-- too late
nothing to be done-- just wait
embraces and kisses-- goodbyes

red flows through-- filled with life
and it thunders-- softly
one last time
