She's There
Location
She’s there
Past the distance where two makes a pair
Where mountains mount dreams and stretch past the sky
Where my sunrise here means her night is nigh
And these are the nights when I hear her not
When for her voice I would trade all I’ve got
When I dream of overcoming any such hardship
With this feverish passion tempered by friendship
What joy what elation breathes when she returns
What stories we tell to the voice each yearns
Sometimes I speak and feel her smile through the phone
And I know when she speaks she can feel my own
But what distances we seem to still be apart
A coastline of cities and mountains to chart
And that plethora of lovers I don’t always eschew
But none have the love that I give to you
Though old loves composed the poet’s hand
The fairest of them all made me a better man
And the more I write of them the more I see
That truly there is no other one for me
I’m enthralled by your wit, addicted to your smile
Your graces alone flood my heart like the Nile
My desert flower nearly lost in sandy seas
Your love of my faults and your laugh give me ease
And when I see myself wrinkled with fewer years to accost
With pranks and good laughs and wit not lost
With that glowing smile still cheering still air
She’s there
