shell of a man

lay aside the shell of a man who's spirit has left him

Overcome by doubt he falls deeper into the dark recesses of his own mind
Allowing them to rob his soul of passion and zest for life.

He is slipping away into the dark recesses of his mind
Where the light of hope is obscured by the overgrowth of negativity

This shell no longer laughs with enthusiasm but frowns with deep brooding

His touch is tentative and unsure against my skin.
His kiss no longer envelops me in flames.

It is only sadness that befalls upon my lips and my heart weeps.

For this shell of a man
