She is a Woman
Location
Burning brightly as a star are her eyes,
Her eyes that peer through the lens and see new worlds,
New worlds that she can transform with a brilliant imagination,
A brilliant imagination that is shunned by male chauvinists.
Her self esteem is dying more quickly than blue bottle flies on wax paper
Because men are filching her light, telling her
"You'll never amount to anything."
"This is a man's world."
"You'll have to sleep your way to the top."
Her brow furrows and she is crushed,
Crushed by the men she looked up to,
Looked up to only because they were great,
Great in the past, but this is a segue in talent
This segue is a transition from male to female
This a woman's world too
And again her eyes burn brightly like a star, and again she sees new worlds
With her imagination that will no longer be shunned
By male chauvinists. She is a woman.
