She

Her skin as soft as water,
Smooth like a clear untouched lake,
Without waves, without movement, serene.
You look down upon it and see only the clouds,
The perfect snow-white forms,
Brighter than any you’ve seen before,
As if someone from above poured down snow into them,
Letting it soak into their cores like sponges,
And then watching the flakes spiral down,
Down, down, down, to you, a single flake,
Until it makes its landing upon your crystal blue eye.
You don’t flinch, you just watch, you gather it in,
Oh so faintly resting on that perfect pond of blue,
Melting now from white cold to red warm,
It becomes part of the pool.
You see the cool biting mint,
Nipping at your tongue,
Like an icy winter breeze, the silent storm rages.
You understand the truth of the cloud,
For the cloud is now within your vision.
Until it passes slowly by,
And you are left, alone, only with her,
Looking down at that same glass lake,
You fall.
