Shattered Dreams and This Plastered Smile

I’ll never forget the day

You came back for me--

The day it only

Seemed like my life had started again.

A day, a chance for

History to pick up

Where it left off before.

I thought you’d changed --

I was mistaken.

You’d only returned

With the same facade from before.

I wish someone warned tried to me;

My conscience tugged my

Heartstrings a little harder--

This was not the case.

Now all that’s left

Are the Shattered Dreams and

This Plastered Smile on my face.
