Shadows

Shadows.

As the sun moves,

it stretches our souls across the ground.

Making them visible to the world,

though they don't know what they're seeing.

They can't see the walls you've built

the stone and reinfoced steel walls that gaurd,

to keep out the pain. They can't see, the memories

the people that have brought you here.

But shadows are temporary and changing

they vary from day to day

the memories will always remain

but their effect doesn't have to stay.

Let people see you smile in the sunshine

and dance in the light

keep the dark of your soul behind you

and think of it only in the night.

It is good to remember what brought you this far

but let it fade to be nothing more than a scar

something you carry, but that has no weight

let it fade like your shadow

at the end of the day
