Senior Sonnet
Location
Next year will see me off to the Midwest,
Land of country music, hockey and snow,
It will cost my parents a lot of dough,
But I cannot believe how much I’m blessed.
Worried the weather will make me depressed,
It can sometimes get to forty below.
I’m more worried about my parents’ woe,
With only one son to keep them stressed.
I am excited for this next pursuit,
Making new friends and being on my own,
Learning new things and researching the mind,
It all sounds like it’s too good to be true.
But I won’t forget to pick up the phone,
Call the family that I left behind,
And tell them, “Every day I think of you.”
