Semi is still Circle
childhood remembrances are always a burden
if you’re an immigrant
I can always recollect my memories of living in
Nigeria
with no electricity nor technology
and if you become famous or something
the media never gossip about how happy you were to be
free with your family
living in comfort
The happiness you felt when you could go outside and interact
without getting killed
But when you talk about home
it never gets across how much passion
you felt about your birthplace
as the whole family meet outside and
have dinner together and bond
and you remember every memory
This american citizens never try to understand
your family frustration when someone ask question like
Do you live with lions?
And though you answer truthfully
their arrogance don’t concerns you
and though you continue to answer their
ridiculously questions
you know your Culture and
You’re trying to make them understand you
But they don’t
and I really hope no american citizen ever has cause
to write about me
because they never understand
the struggle of coming to america and they’ll
probably call me names
and make me look like some kind of alien but they can
never understand that
all the while I was quite happy
