Selfie

Wed, 09/11/2019 - 12:33 -- Halah

take a picture, shoot your shot

add a filter because “you’re not hot”

another selfie, another day

scrolling, scrolling…

“oh that looks cute”

your thumb in hot pursuit

more hearts, the better so

another selfie, another day

sunrise, sunset

“I wonder how many likes I’ve gotten yet”

at dinner, the routine the same:

another selfie, another day

cup #3 of your favorite coffee (because the others “didn’t look right”)

sip by day, read by night

every action documented by

another selfie, another day

now much older with not much life left,

your hand in a position known by muscles quite deft

you slowly raise your arm like years before and

‘snap!’

was a picture of you with your family & put on an app; goodbye

the same as years go by,

another selfie, another day
