Self-Portrait

Who am I?
I am a reflection in a stormy pond,
A tune that is caught on the tongue,
But has no words,
A finger pointing, pointing out, than turning in to point
at a cowering figure.
Two reaching, reaching hands, that reach for goals,
and fail, then start to reach again,
Two searching, searching eyes, that search within,
and catch a glimpse, as through a keyhole.
I am a flowing, flowing river, that rushes, stops, then flows again,
I am a mind that knows it is
a jewel within the Father’s hand,
But sometimes, sometimes stops and wonders,
if the heart knows this to.
I am a hope, a plan, a note,
within a bigger song,
I am a start, a fresh beginning.
