In a sea of troubles, I swim alone
In the brightest city,
The lights go for miles.
On the sliver sidewalks,
Shine bright star tiles.
A skyline stretching across the horizon.
What I’d give to peer at the ocean and dive in.
To sink to the bottom and cry for help.
The sound drowns out;
I’m all by myself.
Thousands of fish in the sea,
But I can’t see one.
To pause for a minute and breathe
And then I’ll be done.
Blue waves in my casket:
For the sea of stress in my life.
The pews of my dear family,
Like schools of fish to wish me goodbye.
Lowered in the dirt,
We all pass alone,
And on to the next,
This world never felt like home.
