Sea-Glass Heart

my sea glass heart

sharp and pointy

that used to cut those

who dared touch

is slowly

smoothing by the gentle

ebb and flow

of his love

that rushes over me

tumbling me

every day

in every move

he makes.

his heart on his sleeve

to the elements

rough and worn

like an old blanket

after all this time

still chases away the chill

from deep inside your bones.

i’m so

unlike the rest

undeserving of

his selfless love

his kind nature

his open heart.

and yet

he still gifts me with it

every day.

and i don’t know why.
