Screams of the night
We never talk and you wonder why?
Let me take you back to the night I heard my mother cry.
I lay still in my bed,
with sweet dreams in my head.
Dreams that were cut short when I heard glass shatter
For a moment I thought I was going mad like the hatter.
Then voices began to echo out from a poorly lit room.
The door exploded open as she went to get the broom
Both of you yelling about underlying issues.
For this next part you may need to grab some tissues.
What I saw with my eyes as I crept to my door
Was something that disturbed me to my very core
Your left hand violently kissed my mother's face
And your right hand did the same in a different place.
You grabbed her by the head and threw her down
With one final swing you removed her frown.
She lay unconscious near the table
I was seven when I tried to stop you and wasn't able
We hid from you for several weeks
You found us once and replinished the bruises on her cheeks.
I was just a boy when life showed her cruel hand
The pain I witnessed was one many won't understand.
This pain was one that made me who I am.
As for you sir well I really don't give a Damn.
