Your eyes travel my body like a plane battles the wind

They close with understanding as they land on the sparkling sliver hidden on my skin

You ask me how I got them as they stare at you shimmering in secrecy

You’re eager to know, you’re begging to know, you’re thirsting to know.

But are you dying to know?

You want to know how I got these scars?

I tied a rope to the moon and jumped swinging for the stars

I dove into an ocean whose depth was perceived as a pond

I tied a string to my heart and casted it as far as the wind would take it.

And then I rode on the back of the breeze as it sent chills up your spine.

You want to know how I got these scars.

I chased the ellipse that sent the fairytale fading into tomorrow.

I looked into a rain puddle and saw the future daring me to swim

I followed the lone wolfs howl until it was lost in the stratosphere

Where I tried to swallow every molecule of air that came from lovers’ mouths.

You want to know how I got these scars.

I dug myself in a hole of all the promises made in their eyes.

I wished on stars and time and eyelashes

I loved people the way you lose your keys

Searching for their favorite hiding places.

You want to know how I got these scars.

I chased dreams on the backs of butterflies

And tried to play hopscotch on the clouds

I smoked rainbows in the rain

And injected sun beams into my veins.

You want to know how I got these scars.

I believed in people like a school girl believes in petals

At recess; I jump roped with barbed wires

I let laughter flow through my arteries and clot in my brain.

And then I played surgeon instead of doctor.

You want to know how I got these scars.

I lost a battle I didn’t choose and got trampled by the victor’s horse

I picked a fight with goliath but I didn’t have any stones.

I tried to surf on the lava of their volcano

On a tiny surfboard made of plastic

So you want to know how I got these scars?

I chased life like the winds chases the hair around my face

I fought wars with handsome devils with my heart instead my sword

I believed in people like I believed the sun will shine

But their love turned to smoke and covered the sky with clouds.
