I want to save the world

Yes I know I am just a girl

People may look at me with a sneer 

How can a girl be an engineer?

much less a hispanic

Why must everyone be a critic?

but the ice is melting

the weather changing

and resources dwindling

I must  not give up

for this is what I love

restoring the ecosystems

with some of my mechanisms

with a little determination

I can stop this contamination

the waters will soon run clean

and cars will run on something other then gasoline

with a little thinking

we can change our way of living

a way that helps the planet

instead of destroying it

I want to be an environmental engineer

to help the Earth heal

I can already see the wind blowing the turbines

and the panels shining in the sunlight

A world where mother nature has nothing to fear

no more damage

for I'd like to keep living here

for as long as I can manage

because this is our planet 

and as far as we know there is no other like it
