Saving Lives

What do doctors do?

The little girl

asked her dad one day.

Well,

he answered,

they make sick people feel better.

No daddy,

she said,

they do more than that.

mommy,

 the little girl asked,

what do doctors do?

Well,

she answered,

they give people medicine.

No, mommy,

the little girl answered,

they do more than that.

Doctor,

the little girl asked,

what do you do?

Well,

the doctor said,

I give people shots.

No,

the little girl said,

you do more than that.

Well,

they all asked the girl,

what do doctors do, then?

Doctors do all of those things,

she answered,

but they do more than that.

Doctors,

she explained,

save lives.

They put stitches in people

so they won't bleed anymore.

They put casts on broken bones

so they'll heal.

They can make people's hearts

continue to beat.

They make people feel good.

And those people's families.

And the people who rely on them.

I want to be the doctor

in that little girl's idea- my idea.
