Salt Love
I wish to lie bare on the warm beaches of Peru.
I wish for the smooth ever-eroding sand
to leave imprints on my skin.
I wish for the warm sun baked waves
to caress me into a euphoric state of mind.
When the breeze I've dreamt of
sweeps underneath the backs of my knees bent
I wish for the chills it brings to my naked skin
to be tamed by the beaming sun.
I wish to absorb the heat of the day
and harbor it in my heart,
for this warmth will be a symbol of my youth and tampered soul.
Oh Peruvian beach, your tranquil oceans I desire to douse me over
like the smooth rocks on its shore.
Replenished and dripping with moisture savory.
And when low tide works up to crashing waves
pounding the soft supple shore
Oh how I know it will take my breath away.
